On the moku of Kaua'i...
...where we first met, we exchanged our pili—our promises—in a way that felt quiet, intimate, and completely us. Just us, in the presence of a kanaka kahu, held by the ʻāina.
Instead of the traditional ring exchange, we chose something that felt deeply pono and true to who we are.
I was gifted a handmade lei hulu woven with goose feathers in colors honoring the two islands that shaped us—Hawaiʻi Island and Oʻahu. The ʻulaʻula feathers carry mana—passion, power, and sacredness—while the melemele feathers represent energy, prosperity and divine connection.
He was gifted a handmade niho palaoa made of whale bone and Hawaiian black coral, that speaks to nobility, ancestry, and the significance of our compassion and commitment to one another, for eternity.
This was our way—authentic and rooted in culture—of choosing each other and honoring the ʻāina where our story began.
Mahalo nui loa to one of our dearest friends—an incredibly passionate photographer whom we trusted wholeheartedly during one of our most vulnerable moments. Mahalo piha to a dear friend - Angela, photographer of Crystal Moon Magic Photography for holding space for us, for seeing us as we are, and for capturing this chapter so honestly. You told our story visually just as we would have ourselves, and that means everything.
Wedding getting-ready details are never just details...
They’re the quiet storytellers of the day.
These moments require thoughtfulness—knowing the couple deeply enough to understand what truly matters to them. The handwritten promises to each other tucked into the suit pockets. The heirloom jewelry passed down through generations. The gifts they chose for one another in the days leading up to “I do.” Even the perfume and cologne chosen for the day—scents that will forever be tied to this moment, capable of transporting them back with just one breath years from now. Each piece holds meaning, emotion, and history.
For professional photographers, this part of the day is a labor of love. It takes time, trust, and connection to carefully place these items together in a way that feels natural and true—so that when they’re photographed, they don’t feel styled, but felt. When those meaningful pieces are arranged side by side, they begin to resemble the love story they represent: deeply considered, layered, and personal.
These images matter because long after the day has passed, they bring you back to the anticipation, the nerves, the tenderness, and the quiet moments before everything changed. They honor not just how your wedding looked—but how it felt.
Because your love deserves to be told with care, from the very beginning.
End-of-the-night elopement chaos!
Champagne flowing, cake being properly enjoyed, and us realizing the dress tag somehow survived the entire day. Iconic 🥳🤭
And then—like the universe applauding 👏 we came back to our hotel room to swan towels and orchid petals scattered all over the sheets, compliments of the hotel staff. Because even they understood the assignment. 🦢🤍
This is what happens when the elopement ends and the real celebration begins—messy bites, loud laughs, unbuttoned vibes, and that holy sht we’re married* high!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Cheee!
The photographs are raw and huge mahalo to our dear friend Angela, and my editing stays bold, playful, and a little feral—because polished would’ve been a lie!! 🤩👌🏽
These are our proof that love isn’t always soft and cinematic… sometimes it’s chaotic, cheeky, champagne-soaked, and completely ours…to forever smile about!!
Live Aloha
We found eachother at the terminal in LIH, guided by the mana of Kauaʻi. This sacred ʻāina called us back to make life-long promises, wrapping our huakaʻi in aloha. From the soft island ea and towering trees to the kindness of our kamaʻāina, every hā of Kauaʻi carries mana. This island holds a forever place in our hearts, strengthening our love and the path we continue to live together.
